Today we left civilization and ended the day on the ferry Alaska bound. The day started off with us picking up needed supplies in Seattle’s Public Market. Having done our research we knew that the ferry to Alaska had mainly fried food and pre-made sandwiches, as a means of protecting Casey’s delicate stomach we picked up fresh fruit, veggies, cheese and bread for our journey. We made the 70 mile drive from Seattle to the picturesque town off Bellingham, WA where we waited in line to board the ferry and then waited for the ferry to finally depart. Interesting note…upon boarding the ferry everything changes from Pacific time to Alaska time. We believe this is why the ferry was over an hour late 
in departing Bellingham. Before leaving on our adventure, and against Will’s wishes, we did some research into the trek we would be undertaking, including the ferry and its accommodations. As you can see from the pictures it is about the size of a prison cell, fully furnished with a seating area (toilet), bedding for two (metal bunk beds), and all the necessities of home (cardboard as toilet paper). Actually it is not that bad, it could be a lot worse and we could have a tent pitched on the stern of the ferry exposed to the elements. We closed the day watching the sun set over the Western Canadian Islands.
