Bay’s Trip & Thanksgiving

Bay first arrived Tuesday before Thanksgiving. After getting settled with time adjustments, Bailey was introduced into Will and my world. We first experienced cross country skiing. Of course, Bay and I had to document it taking thousands of pictures while Will grumbled in the background. However, if you notice below there is a great sequential three-picture moment when Will fell. Aww. Good times! I fell (not surprisingly). Will was generous and helped me up. Obviously, I didn’t keep my balance because I landed once again afterwards. Bailey was being a regular risk-taker and attempted a jump. Well, almost. It was funny to watch her turn around. Thanks to having cameras with us, WILL!
Thanksgiving was pretty exciting. Will did a fabulous job with the turkey. We had our friends; Marisa and Joe come to join the festivities. Overall, we just hung out and socialized. Will figured that since he cooked the turkey and mashed potatoes, that he was done. As he sat on the couch the remainder of the day/night while everyone else cleaned, played games, and chit chatted, I started plotting. I was waiting for a moment, the moment to arrive. Will got up and made himself (shocker) a piece of pie and asked about whip cream. Because he was directing the comment to me, I thought it was necessary to help him out with putting whip cream on the pie. I accidentally got it on him. Whoops!
Bailey and I took a stab at painting. Moose loves helping and choose to participate in our painting fun! Other things that we did while Bailey was here was played Bingo, shopped, and she was able to experience two moose sightings as well as seeing the aurora.
It was very sad to see her go, but she has promised to visit again!

Halloween (written by William)

Happy Halloween from the frozen north! We got into the holiday spirit by picking up a couple of pumpkins that were subsequently snowed on and over the next week frozen solid. When Will got home from his trip he went to open up one of the pumpkins to install a strobe light and found that the lid was so stuck that he had to jimmy it open with a knife after the pumpkin had been soaked in warm water.
On Saturday, Case and I met up with our friends Marisa & Joe (Zombie couple) and Jessie & Brian (Hippie and Ladybug) to head out to one of the local bars that were celebrating All Hallows Eve Fairbanks style. It was a good time with a local band (not so good) and loads of outrageous costumes. We spent most of the evening gawking at the locals and their attire. We took some pictures of the creative costumes, but they are rated R.

Moose, Ice Dogs, and Up and Coming

Moose
We added to the Obringer family by adopting Moose E. Banks (Casey’s name for him, just Moose to everyone else). When we went to adopt him, he was very sick. We continued to visit him at the shelter to check up on him and last Wednesday, we asked if we could take him home and give him his meds there. In the pics you will see that his nose is super wet because he is still slowly getting better. Stories have started with the interaction of Oscar and Mattie. Mattie just want to love on him (Moose isn’t too sure) and Oscar? Well, Oscar to date has literally scared the crap out of Moose four times. Poor thing. Moose has an interesting meow. I keep telling Will that he isn’t feeling well still and that his voice is hoarse, but Will is convinced that that is his meow. Time will tell. P.S. The dog’s tail is yes, Oscar’s.

Ice Dogs
Will and I experienced our first local hockey game last night. Wow! I would contend that it was more of a fight then a game. There were seven or eight fights that happened on the ice. The biggest shock for me was that it was allowed and even encouraged. The fight lasted as long as they were standing. I think we may purchase season tickets next year!

Up and coming
Halloween! Will and I are still trying to figure out our costumes and will be carving pumpkins tonight. Will is flying to Rhode Island on Tuesday and will be there for the remainder of the week.

Bob & Betsy’s Visit

Bob and Betsy came to visit. They wanted to see snow (which didn’t happen) and a moose (which didn’t happen either). However, a trip to Denali National Park was made and a quick tour of Fairbanks. The sky was so clear at night that we were able to see shooting stars and satellites overhead, unfortunately no Northern Lights. One night we spent in and broke out the Wii Karaoke, even though Bob fell asleep during it. Bob was not a fan of dogs, but Mattie soon changed his mind!
